DIVA: DANIELLE DE NIESE REVIEW

Story Image

Diva: Danielle de Niese

Friday July 30,2010

By Paul Callan

THE exotic lyric soprano Danielle de Niese who is Australian-born of Sri Lankan origins, made a simply sensational debut at Glyndebourne in 2005 by emerging from a rolled-up carpet in Handel’s Giulio Cesare.

On this exciting CD she sings the glorious aria Da Tempeste with a brisk tempo and joyful phrasing.

Another gem is her duet Là Ci Darem La Mano from Mozart’s Don Giovanni with  the great Bryn Terfel. A glorious performance.

(Decca).

VERDICT 4/5
