FOLLOWING the breach of security ahead of the Egypt match in which the players’ meeting was taped, you would think the last people England stars would want to trust with looking after their homes while in South Africa is the FA.

However, the organisation have agreed to stump up the costs for providing additional security to the expensive houses of their highly-paid stars while the players are away. A tender process is ongoing to find a suitable firm of specialists.

Clubs like Manchester United use internal resources to provide additional cover while players are overseas because of the number of burglaries on European nights.

That cover can even include guards at properties if deemed appropriate.

They plan to make security just as tight in South Africa in a bid to keep onlookers away from Fabio Capello’s base for the tournament.

Indeed, England coach Capello is not the only one to be impressed by facilities at Royal Bafokeng.Former boss Glenn Hoddle is in talks with the resort with a view to opening up a second home for his Spain-based academy which looks to give discarded young professionals another shot at the big time.
