Nacho Novo is adament he wants to stay

Sunday March 14,2010

By Daily Express reporter

NACHO NOVO last night put his cards on the table by saying: “I would love to stay at Rangers.”

It might not have been the best negotiating ploy of his career ahead of his agent Jorge Lera’s talks with the Ibrox club over a new contract, but the striker can’t hide his fondness for the Gers.

“We’ll see what happens when discussions get underway, but I want to stay,” he said. “I’ve been here a few years and

I’ve always been treated really well. I have a good relationship with everyone and the supporters, of course, are great. This is my club.”

Novo is one of the longest-serving players at Rangers after his move from Dundee in 2004.

There is a degree of uncertainty about matters now as the possibility of a new club owner becomes more likely by the day.

But Novo, 30, said: “I’ve not been worried about the situation. If I’m finished here, I can say I’ve had the best years of my career at Rangers. I have enjoyed it all. I wouldn’t change it for anything. But I’m hoping everything will be fine.”

And, as the Gers go for glory on three fronts, he lifted the lid on the dressing room atmosphere that is so important ahead of today’s Scottish Cup quarter-final clash against Dundee United.

“Everyone gets on well and there is a lot of joking,” he said. “But we also concentrate on our football and winning
games.
