The Department for Children, Schools and Families has spent more than £14.5m refurbishing offices

Friday March 19,2010

By Daily Express Reporter

ED BALLS’ Department for Children, Schools and Families has spent more than £14.5million refurbishing offices since it was set up three years ago, figures reveal.

The total bill came to £14,512,287, junior schools minister Diana Johnson said in a written Commons answer to Shadow Treasury chief secretary Philip Hammond yesterday.

But she said vacating Caxton House for Sanctuary Buildings had saved about £13million a year in running costs.

In a separate answer to Tory David Davies, Ms Johnson said the department had spent £81,630 on pot plants in the three years.

Ms Johnson said the office refits were “responsible”.

From that statement I take it that the replacement offices have no running cost. Economical with the truth once again.

IT'S ALL BALLS.

19.03.10, 8:03am

Ed Balls, wannabe Liebour leader, has shown complete disregard for protecting taxpayers money.

Only a Liebour politician would spend £14.5 million and have the gall to say he's saved us £13 million.
No you have'nt you cretin.

This is a classic example of Liebour economics and this mindset is one of the reasons why our economy is in freefall.

I'm now waiting for Liebour party supporters to rush to defend Balls and his brand of 'economy'.
