Sullivan, who owns West Ham now, has intimated that he is interested in luring both players to Upton Park by trying to take advantage of a perceived loophole further 12-month option on both.

But Sullivan, who negotiated their deals while still chairman at Birmingham, believes the option clause might not be permissible under FIFA regulations. Birmingham manager McLeish said: “This is the man that did the contracts. They used them year-in, year-out at Birmingham.”
